Immigration

St. John’s is the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s most easterly province, and with more than 41% of the provincial population residing within the St. John’s metro area, we are the province’s urban and economic core.

Brimming with a rich heritage and culture all its own, St. John’s offers newcomers opportunity, cultural inclusiveness and a safe and secure environment in which to live. There’s also no shortage of modern amenities to enjoy.

We are committed to welcoming international newcomers to work, study and build a life here. In fact, permanent residency nominations in the province are at an all time high, with 3,775 in 2023 (there were only 775 in 2015). We are proud of this growth and we’re working hard to ensure this positive momentum continues.
