Conference season is in full swing, and the City of St. John’s is looking forward to a steady stream of conferences, trade shows, meetings, and business delegation visits.
With backdrops like these, who needs a power point?
From mid-May to mid-July the world is coming to the city to attend strategic scientific, research and industry conferences where our ocean technology, sciences, and energy related sectors will be fully engaged.
As Canada’s Ocean City Powerhouse there is no better place to host these types of conferences. Inspiring study tour destinations, access to thought-provoking speakers and experts, and business to business opportunities advance industry growth. On top of that, when you host your event in our exceptional city of living history, urban energy, and natural splendour, you treat your delegates to a great meeting experience!
Delegate spending makes a significant contribution to the city’s tourism sector by injecting new money into the local economy. 2023 marked a full return to in-person business events including meetings, conventions, and incentive travel. Destination St. John’s reports these business events brought 20,900 delegates to the city, accounting for 33,000 room nights in St. John’s. This is above the 19,000 delegates recorded in 2022.
Beyond the delegate spend, the business connections, opportunities to showcase and leverage local expertise and market to national and international audiences increases the potential for long term business development.
